Still Proud and Beautiful
Forgive me for making this into a slide show...

A friend of mine has placed an offer on this house...so I can't disclose its location.
It is a lovely place, but the kitchen is very small, hardly any room to move around. The house was built in 1911 and has a lovely small attic room with a closet. The strangest thing in this place, it has 3 fire places, back to back and one of them, a kind of reading room, so tiny...you would roast while reading a book.
This house needs some serious remodeling, with enough vision not to destroy its original beauty. Asking price...only 49,900.00!!

It's a lovely example of Craftsman Cottage design, isn't it? What a buy! And bringing it 'up to speed' will be fun, I'd expect.

The three fireplaces, do you mean they share a chimney?
Maybe that was for heating the entire house during really cold winters. Perhaps she could get a mason to properly close off the opening.

Yes it is lovely...they share the same chimney which is not bad exactly, the interesting thing for me is, who or why would they make such a massive fireplace for a reading room? Surely nobody would sit there with a fire for more than a few minutes at a time.

I agree. People do some 'not so well thought out' things when creating their homes.
In our new one, I wonder daily what the guy who built it for himself was thinking in regard to functionality. Sure, it's 'pretty' but really, how many woman can reach cabinets 9ft up the wall?
And there's a bathroom upstairs that has two entrances...nice, but the wall the doors are on is so short the doors, if both open, bang into each other in a noisy clatter kind of way way thats unnerving.
I could go on, but you get what I mean, I'm sure.

yeah....but when you think about it and after checking all the house, I figure it will take another 50,000 to fix it...if you have that, I guess it is a good thing. I hope he gets it so I can witness the process and perhaps help some.

Yeah but it'll be a gem in the end.

ohh I know it is going to be lovely, I hope he ends up being the owner, I love that wisteria and I will go back to take more photos.
Did you notice the paintings by the fireplace...I asked the agent if they were going to toss them out. He said...I guess...but when I asked if I could keep them...he said...er...no...we might use them after all.
