Newest Spirit Dolls

It has taken quite a few weeks to come back to my dolls, I had so many things to do in between...that I almost feared that they would not "allow me in" the flow of creativity. I am glad it was not so, as soon as I sat at my table...the process began and I am glad it did, because it feels like I have balanced my time. These little creatures are such blessing to my days. Not only because I enjoy making them, it is wonderful to see that others enjoy them as well.
What prompted me to finish what I had started months ago...someone found me at Etsy and purchased 6 dolls! Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound...

Here are some of my newest spirit dolls, available at my Etsy Store

<lj-embed id="85" />

According to Anne Rice

There is one purpose to life and one only: to bear witness to and understand as much as possible of the complexity of the world - its beauty, its mysteries, its riddles. The more you understand, the more you look, the greater is your enjoyment of life and your sense of peace. That's all there is to it. If an activity is not grounded in 'to love' or 'to learn,' it does not have value.

Finding solutions...Intuitive game

Ask yourself a question, now, from a favorite book, turn to pages 11 and 33 . Find the last COMPLETE sentence in each page. (even if you have to follow on to the next) Then, post these instructions in your blog to share with others...It can be insightful and fun!

My question was: Where do I go from here?

I feel like Perceval setting off on a Grail Quest... I was aware that the story itself is elusive, there are many versions, contradictions, and interpretations and I was about to add my own

.-Crossing to Avalon, Jean Shinoda Bolen, M.D.

Crazy Universe

Do you know what it's like, to stand on the heavenly diving board of time, looking down at the 10,000 lifetimes you're about to begin? Seeing everything for the first time through prisms of color and light? Feeling totally overcome with such a surge of joy for ALL that lies ahead, that it takes all of your angels just to keep you from leaping before it's your turn? Knowing that no matter what happens you will emerge wiser, richer, and deeply in love with every form of consciousness that will soon touch and expand your own?

Oh yeah...

Nice cannonball.

In love,
The Universe

Whats in a word...DUHKA

I learned a new word, Duhka...thanks to Mark, and I am fascinated by its meaning:

Duhka, in Buddhist thought, is the true nature of all existence, and the recognition of the fact of suffering as one of three basic characteristics of existence...along with impermanence and the absence of a self ...constitutes the “right knowledge.”

Duhka is a word which represents all of the feelings of un-fulfillment, suffering,, insecurity, fears, love, hope and excitement....(yes we suffer even when we are in love because we are at the mercy of changes)

We are never truly happy no matter how much we make, no matter how much we have, there is always something going wrong to spoil things up for us... or so we expect, even when we get what we want...more so then, because we are not used to attaining happiness, so we must punish ourselves and say that it is not enough or perfect less the gods hear about it and send us some "real" punishment for getting more than we deserve.

So, next time you feel imbalanced...think of Duhka and all its gifts...
Perhaps these are road signs that point us towards an obstacle.... they’re not ‘enemies’ but ‘friends’ along the journey...and don't trick yourself by thinking that this is the road to happiness...it is just a journey to self knowledge, at best to find patience and more compassion for ourselves and others.

What a man!

The ordinary man casts a shadow in a way we do not quite understand. The man of genius casts light.

George Steiner

"The fantastically wasteful prodigality of human tongues, the Babel enigman, points to a vital multiplication of mortal liberties. Each language speaks the world in its own ways. Each edifies worlds and counter-worlds in its own mode. The polyglot is a freer man."

<lj-embed id="81" />

“Language can only deal meaningfully with a special, restricted segment of reality. The rest, and it is presumably the much larger part, is silence.”

“The most important tribute any human being can pay to a poem or a piece of prose he or she really loves is to learn it by heart. Not by brain, by heart; the expression is vital.”

“It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

George Steiner

Is not the mountain far more awe-inspiring and more clearly visible to one passing through the valley than to those who inhabit the mountain?

But let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.

Kahlil Gibran

New paintings

I have created a series of collage ~ assemblage mixed media paintings called Crow -Raven Moon Songs using all the unfinished canvases I could find...what a great experience this was. Next, I am planing to include my polymer cabs...see what Spirit will inspire me to do next time...come back and visit, I am always eager to see what you have to say.

<lj-embed id="71" />

Etsy: Your place to buy & sell all things handmade
gristello.etsy.com

The house was built in 1911 and has a lovely small attic room with a closet. The strangest thing in this place, it has 3 fire places, back to back and one of them, a kind of reading room, so tiny...you would roast while reading a book.
This house needs some serious remodeling, with enough vision not to destroy its original beauty. Asking price...only 49,900.00!!

So, here we go, pick up all the Christmas stuff, and hide it away for another year...I don't know if I should save those little dolls or sell them to start again. Some of those have so much work, but the cat faces don't quite make the theme (people tell me they should be angels...as if cats do not enter into the angel realm)
